Keion Staton Solo Exhibition
Aug 8 -- 12, 2021
Opening Reception: Aug 8, 6pm - 10 pm
Keion Staton has a way with words, and that is his strength and power. As an African-American poet, actor and rapper, he looks to empower others with his strong message spreading acceptance, love and community. At only 23, he has become a published author and renowned performer, making appearances at venues like Brooklyn Museum and Nuyorican Poets Cafe. Growing up in Brooklyn, his ability to string words together started from his early appreciation of rap music, being inspired by Tupac, JAY-Z, and Kanye West. Soon he was authoring his own work.
His free-style performances attract a wide audience and he has gained quite a bit of recognition, having been written up in magazines and music blogs across all platforms. For a young poet, his accomplishments are surmountable and he continues to create his own utopia with his words. He is the embodiment living the American dream, as he rises to the top through his artistic mastery, inspiring others with his prolific messages about acceptance, race and love. The world needs more visionaries like Keion as an uplifting force during these dark times of racial inequality and police brutality. Through his words, it is his goal to break racial barriers and create a world that is brimming with light, love and positivity.
